Renovation of Ohkola hospital / Ohkolan sairaalan peruskorjaus

Tuusula, Finland

Ohkola Hospital in Kellokoski was opened in 1961 as a class B mental hospital for the Central Uusimaa municipalities. The Hospital was refurbished and therein created new modern facilities for adolescent psychiatry and treatment of psychosis. A separate unit was designed for the treatment of challenging adolescents and a school operates in the ground floor of the building. The main focus in the functional planning of the care spaces was the ease of monitoring the common areas for patients. The arrangement of functions aims at creating a calm atmosphere within the units.
